Bake Sale
Proceeds go to Project EATS – December 13th @ Derby Cup Coffee
I will be hosting a bake sale for Project EATS on December 13th at Derby Cup Coffee. I hope to see you there!
My introduction to baking started as a toddler with my paternal grandparents – baking pies for Thanksgiving with my grandmother, and holiday cookies with my grandfather. Before I even arrived at my grandfather’s house for Christmas, he would have already made over a thousand cookies to sell at his church’s annual fundraiser bake sale. He would make all kinds of cookies: pecan snowballs, spritz, sugar, chocolate chip, and checkerboard/pinwheels. Of all these varieties, the simple sugar and spritz were my favorite, buttery, vanilla-y, and crispy when biting in but eventually dissolving on the tongue. These cookies inspired the cookie recipe I sent out earlier this week, and are inspiring next week’s bake sale.
To honor my grandfather’s holiday tradition, I would love to see you on Saturday, December 13th, at Derby Cup Coffee, where I’ll be doing a little bake sale. I will be selling slices of gingerbread cake (more on that recipe next week), decorated with butter cookies. All proceeds will go to Project EATS, supporting local farms, outreach programs, and equitable food access across New York City.
We can hang out, talk pastry, eat cake and cookies, and drink some espresso (with my homemade almond milk). Please RSVP here so I can get an approximate headcount and know how much to bake, but do know that *cake will be sold on a first come first serve basis*! Can’t wait to see you!
